Dubler 2005 Family Letter
|
| Happiest of Holidays to friends
and family near and way too far away. What a wild ride the
Dubler family is on as we have been catapulted into Danielle's senior
year in High School at Ridgeview
Classical Schools and the beginning of another new chapter in our
lives. (Remember the year we were excited to be done with
diapers? Time is just flying by.) |
Pete and I enjoy each day to
the maximum. There are many
projects involving our new sailboat Regina
Oceani (pron.
Reg-hee-nah Ok-ee-ah-nee; latin for Queen of the Ocean) some are worked
on here in Colorado in the workshop and sewing area, some take place on
the boat in New Bern, NC;
and 99.99% are done by Pete's capable hands and loving heart. He
is making the boat truly ours, just as you do a new house, with
upholstery (he learned to sew), rewiring, and a huge list of
projects, where one item is checked off and a few more added
frequently. Pete made several "project trips" to the marina
in NC and
has
announced that the next one MUST be a sailing trip. He and
Danielle sailed "her" from Ft.Lauderdale, where "she" was
purchased, to New Bern in July; the other four of us sailed
around the Pamlico Sound in August and had great adventures of our
own. While I don't feel threatened by this new lady in Pete's
life, she sure has captured his attention, keeps him busy, and he
truly enjoys spending money on her. Hmmmm... |
I
continue to have a blast
teaching lots of different workout classes and have added to my
repetoire this year; with the added objective of "things I can do on
the bow of a sailboat". While I still teach quite a few Body
Pump and RPM
cycling classes each week, I became a Pilates
mat instructor;
Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced, BOSU,
and Body
Flow (which is a blend of tai chi, yoga and pilates). I have
practiced several types of yoga and am planning to become a yoga
instructor in late January. Spending time each day playing
my beautiful harp offers a state of tranquility (albeit temporary
some days). At times I do feel a smidgen of improvement which is
nice. All of the peace and contentment from
the aforementioned help me fully enjoy and experience our three
incredible teenage daughters!! We are so lucky to have these
three beautiful, happy, strong and capable young women and appreciate
them so much.
|
I'll start with Makenna
who turned us into a 3
teenager household this fall. She "wow's" us daily with her wit and all
that she learns and knows. Kenna is so sweet, smart, super
organized
and takes pride in not only keeping up with her older sisters,
but she can definitely hold her own. There doesn't seem to
be a school subject that she doesn't excel in and enjoy. If
asked, she'll probably say that she doesn't 'enjoy' Latin, but it's her
3rd year of it and she's good. She has earned High Honor Roll
status at Ridgeview, is in the Madrigal performance in January and
plans on playing basketball
as well. She has also spent time thus far this year on the
Yearbook Committee, taking photographs, fundraising and
organizing.
|
Cami, is
in 9th
grade this year which is Freshman in
High School
here. Competitive cheerleading has taken a back seat so that she
could be in a select extracurricular Madrigal Choir. She sings,
sings and sings some more and plays the piano incredibly well, too.
Whether she is happy or stressed, sitting at the piano playing and
singing is usually where she is found. Also
on the Honor Roll, she is a happy, smiling, beautiful 6' tall, and
we're not sure if she is done yet. When Cami has a free weekend, she is
typically babysitting for some of her special families. She loves all
of "her" little babies and kids. Did I mention that she is
also
incredibly funny and can easily make us all laugh until we shed
tears?

Danielle
is 17.
Ohmygoodness; where to begin. What a joy and blessing to have
such a wonderful young woman under our roof. She is
incredibly smart (High Honor Roll too), happy, funny and wise
beyond her years. She attracts such wonderful friends and
is enjoyed by all of her teachers at Ridgeview. She is Student Council
Vice-President for the second year. We just
could not be more proud. She is a gifted writer and I can't
let her write her own paragraph here because it would be 80 pages
long. She has been accepted to Colorado
State University's
Honors Program and Colorado College
(private) in Colorado Springs. She has also applied to Reed College
(private) in
Portland, Oregon and Brown in
Rhode Island. So the decision process continues and should be
completed soon. Danielle has BIG plans for her life and is
anxious for her next chapter to begin so stay tuned!

As another year draws to a
close, I take a deep breath and look around me. We are so blessed
with wonderful friends and family; and are thankful to each of you for
the part you play in our lives. Keep peace in your hearts and let
it spread through the world.
